Dec. 12, 2015 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
I hope you’ll join us for this year’s Holiday Party – it’s shaping up to be a wonderful event! BUT -- time is running out. Final head count is due no later than December 4, 2015, so we need to hear from you. If you already signed up on line, please do so again – we’ve had a funny glitch with the website and it seems to be pulling forward RSVP’s from Holiday Parties Past. Or email your RSVP to Shannon Spangler at Shannon@NSNEnt.com.
I’m very thankful that, this year, the Club will be able to cover most of the cost of dinner, so please come, and bring a guest!
Tahoe Donner will give a one-day ski pass to downhill or cross country to use at your convenience this winter (with a few holiday exclusions, of course). I hope some of us can meet up for some fun in the snow on Saturday before the party.
Here are the details:
December 12, 2015 Tahoe Donner Lodge 5:30 – Cocktails, Dinner to Follow $15 per person No Host Bar, or Bring Your Own Wine (corkage fee applies)
Finally, please bring an unwrapped toy, food or coat for a child in need – Truckee Community Christmas needs our help this holiday season!

Pancake Breakfast, A Meals on Wheels Fundraiser. Please join Truckee Rotary at the Sierra Senior Services Apartments for pancakes, cooked to order eggs, bacon or sausage, all for $7, children $3! Rotarians will be cooking, serving and clearing. All proceeds go to the Meals on Wheels program, where many of our homebound seniors depend on it for their only meal, and Sierra Senior Services are able to make in home check ups. This is so important this time of the year to make sure our neighbors are warm, fed and doing OK. Please bring your family and friends for a hometown community breakfast. It's a great way to not have to cook another meal and do dishes after the busy holiday season. Get caught up with friends and neighbors over a hot cup of coffee and breakfast while raising funds for Meals on Wheels! |

The Horn and Lewis household are ready for our help after the first of the year. As you know Sandy is fighting pneumonia and Julie is kicking cancer in the butt. Sandy is in ICU and Julie is getting aggressive chemo. The Lewis' have their kids with them through New Years and have help for now. The Horns are/will be(weather kept Sandy in Reno yesterday, waiting to hear if she got transferred today) in Stanford until Sandy can breathe better. Julie recently went for the buzz cut, thanks to Marni Horn, as her hair was starting to go thanks to the chemo. Marshall says that is a sign the chemo is working. She tires easily but enjoys visitors. Julie and Marshall, Sandy annd Mike are so grateful for the helping hands, emotional support, and positive thoughts of our Rotary friends. "It's times like these that remind us to draw those who are dear to us near to us. We never know what tomorrow will bring. Have a very Merry Christmas." - Marshall With that said they are ready for some help with meals and snow removal after the first of the year. I appreciate all those who volunteered to help, here's your chance to sign up... If cooking is not your thing and you like to play in the snow, well they could use some help moving it. Please sign up to provide a meal or be on call for snow removal. When you register, please make a comment for meal or snow. For the meal group, if you want to coordinate this effort please indicate coordinate. For the snow removal group, please indicate snow, phone number and if you want to coordinate. Once a coordinator is designated for each group they will organize who and when on the meals, or initiate the snow removal efforts when needed. For meals, it would be most useful if you could provide an entree that is freezable in portions for 2-4. Since their daily routine is very unpredictable, we can avoid waste that way. If possible, please use a serving dish that is disposable to you so they do not have worry about getting dishes back to their owner. They could also use help with snow removal, I'm not sure of the extent of this work is, but if you would like to be on a phone tree to be called to action for snow days please sign up.

Apr. 30, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Save the Date: Rotary at Work Day this year is April 30th. We are going to partner with the Truckee Community Garden located at Regional Park to improve and update the garden. We will be helping build new growing beds as well as cleaning up the garden and getting it prepared for the upcoming summer season. Anyone with construction and or design skills will be heavily utilized for the project. We will gladly accept help from family and friends that want to be involved with this project as well. Don’t worry if you don’t like to use saws and hammers there will still be a project with your name on it. |
