Apr. 30, 2016 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Save the Date: Rotary at Work Day this year is April 30th. We are going to partner with the Truckee Community Garden located at Regional Park to improve and update the garden. We will be helping build new growing beds as well as cleaning up the garden and getting it prepared for the upcoming summer season. Anyone with construction and or design skills will be heavily utilized for the project. We will gladly accept help from family and friends that want to be involved with this project as well. Don’t worry if you don’t like to use saws and hammers there will still be a project with your name on it. |

Hi All, Spring has sprung and we are planning our twice yearly Donner Lake family and fellowship campout. Please join us at the west end beach for food, fun & fellowship under the stars on May 7. As always, the club will provide hamburgers , hot dogs and chicken for dinner. Please bring a side, salad or desert to share. Bring your own drinks. We will also keep up the tradition of breakfast the next morning. The club will provide pancakes, bacon and eggs. This is a unique opportunity to enjoy beach bon fires and to camp on the shores of Donner Lake. Everyone is welcome. Tents, trailers or sleep under the stars. Don't like to camp? Join us for dinner and breakfast. Please sign up online so we can get an accurate head count before we go shopping. In Service, Wes |

As part of Rotary Fellowship, Ted Owens will be leading a tour of Donner Summit for Rotarians, Friends and Family. This will be great opportunity to get out with fellow Rotarians and learn about our local history. Here is a brief summary: The Summit Canyon Hike is something that I do each year for the Donner Party Hike in October. We will begin at the Old Ski Academy on Donner Pass off of Highway 40 and hike down canyon to the Summit Canyon parking area on lower 40 just before the Town Limit sign. During the hike, Rotarians will hear much of the history of this trail including the first successful wagon team that crossed here, the Murphy, Townsend, Stephens Party in 1844, the Donner Party two years later, the building of the Transcontinental Railroad and the Dutch Flat Donner Lake Wagon Road, the Lincoln Highway and the building of Highway 40. We will also cover the routes the Indians took and why. It’s fun and interesting. We will meet at the lower parking area on 40, drop a few cars and carpool to the top and repeat upon completion. |

August 18, 2016 No bus this year, perhaps club members can car pool to and from event.
Our club also does a bike ride, which is about 28 miles but not too bad...just a long time in the saddle - mountain bikes recommended. Bike Riders can ride the bus back to town and "Mitch sold another one" will bring the bikes back. For those who want to ride the bus it will leave from the Community Center, South side lot (by the construction). If riding the bus we usually give about $5 tip per head for the driver. The bike ride will also leave from the Community Center. IF TAKING THE BUS --- Meet at the South Community Center parking lot at 4:30 PM IF RIDING YOUR BIKE --- Meet at the South Community Center parking lot at 3:00 PM IMPORTANT WHEN REGISTERING On-line ! In the comments section indicate whether you are going on the "Bus" or "Bike" Please bring cash for the $25 - See more at: http://www.truckeerotary.com/Event/af5c9c88-047a-4aee-b5aa-1a035e840a8c#sthash.f93lmLgD.dpuf
